Robin: Year One
For some, Robin is hard to deal with. It can bring memories of the campy Batman, and it can take away the darkness that attracts you stranger people to Batman comics. I strongly urge people to read this. A great follow up to 'Dark Victory' as it makes up for the abrupt and rushed ending.
Although Batman looks more like his Year One self, the vintage style art and colours can be a great refreshment when you get too deep into the Batman mythos and need some brightening up.
The story reads well and fast. Don't be drawn away if you don't like light hearted tales when it comes to Batman, because this gem gets dark when Robin receives a near death beating from Two-Face similar to when Jason Todd comes to his death in the near future at the hands of the Joker.
The only drawback is the campy looking Mr. Freeze and a continuity issue in a flashback where Batman is at the scene of Dent's tragic event to become Two-Face, ignoring 'The Long Halloween.' But i'm sure we can forgive this and pretend it didn't happen that way. What I especially like is that everyone around Batman is worried about him taking a boy out with him to fight criminal scum. Gordon especially doesn't approve. The best parts however is the way Bruce and Dick Grayson bond together. It's not like father and son, but more like brothers.
RATING:
Batman Story - 7/10 (This is a Robin story, duh!)
Art - 7/10
Continuity - 7/10
Coolness - 10/10
OVERALL - 7.5/10
Continuity Notes:

- How does the Mad Hatter manage to escape Arkham Asylum so often?!!!
- Robin is well established now as the Dark Knight's boy wonder.
