Sword Of Azrael
The short but action packed introduction to Jean-Paul Valley, the brain washed angle assassin Azrael, soon to be merciless Batman. I was not disappointed, though expectations weren't high, this one delivers with a gritty Batman investigating sightings of a murdered angel who fell from the sky.
Of course it wasn't an angel but a crusader armoured assassin for the cult of saint Dumas. Batman is called upon by Gordon to investigate and ends up teaming with the normal son of the assassin, who is brain washed into being the new Azrael to avenge his father's death. While a short read, the art great and Alfred Pennyworth was used masterfully in the plot as more than just a butler to Bruce.
Why this wasn't included in volume one of the new Knightfall series is beyond me, and it is quite hard to come by now too unless you can get it used or at a bargain.
RATING:
Batman Story - 8/10
Continuity - 10/10
Art - 10/10
Coolness - 10/10
OVERALL - 9.5/10
