Son Of The Demon
A classic one-shot involving Batman and his supposed greatest foe, Ra's Al Ghul. The story is about Bruce and Ra's hunting down a man who murdered Ra's wife. This was once forgotten then bumped back into continuity thanks to Grant Morrison's 'Batman & Son.'
I though this would be old and outdated but it holds up well. This actually got me interested again in Batman's blue tinted costume and yellow crested insignia. The artwork is really good and Batman looks mean and intimidating. Don't be fooled by internet images. Viewing the art in an actual book in your hands and you'll want to dive in.
The shitty part is Talia Al Ghul. The amount of times she says beloved is ridiculous. "Beloved this" and "beloved that." I don't see why she had to talk different to everyone else.
Obviously this story builds up to Batman conceiving a child, though the story is actually built around Ra's referring to Bruce as his accepted son for joining him in battle and wedding his daughter. This is a worth while read although I do recommend it for the hardcore fans. And as for you hardcore fans, there is a panel in this that inspired a scene in 'Batman Forever.' Remember when Batman falls out of the chopper and lands in the water before an overly dramatic scene where he reaches the surface and takes a massive breath of air? Wait a second? You don't remember the Schumacher Batman franchise? Trying to forget it?
RATING:
Batman Story - 9/10
Art - 9/10
Continuity - 8/10 (because it's too hard to place exactly in Batman's career)
Epicness - 7/10
OVERALL - 8/10
Continuity Notes:

Continuity Notes:
- Damian Wayne is born
Reprint: Birth Of The Demon
'Son Of The Demon' has been recently collected into a trade with the Demon trilogy. That includes three Ra's Al Ghul tales:
Son Of The Demon
Bride Of The Demon
Birth Of The Demon
While this is a great trade, "Bride Of The Demon' is very boring and kinda bad. 'Birth Of The Demon' is really a Ra's Al Ghul story as it tells his origin from centuries ago. While it doesn't show much Batman until the end, it has one of my all time favourite scenes from a Batman comic, where Ra's stabs Batman with a shovel!
This easier to come by than finding a brand new copy of Son Of Demon, so get on this fast before this becomes hard to find!

Also recommended for hardcore fans is 'Tales Of The Demon' as you will finally understand how Ra's and Talia came to encounter Batman. The stories in it are quite old and date though, so proceed with caution.
